يستخدم أكثر من نصف المستخدمين (55%) في العالم العربي وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي للتواصل مع الناس بشكل أساسي، في حين جاء الحصول على المعلومات، ومشاهدة مقاطع الفيديو، والاستماع إلى الموسيقى ومشاركة الصور كثاني أهم سبب لاستخدام وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي (12%).

لمثل هذه الأفعال لم تُخلق مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي


أما عن نوع الأنشطة التي يقومون بها في معظم الأوقات أثناء استخدامهم وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، فتعتبر المحادثات هي النشاط الأكثر شيوعاً بين المستخدمين في العالم العربي (50%)، تليها قراءة المدونات التي ينشرها الأشخاص الآخرون (18%).




فيما يعتبر فيس بوك وواتس آب المنصتان الأكثر استخداماً بين وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي في جميع دول العالم العربي،حيث كان فيس بوك وسيلة التواصل الاجتماعي الأكثر استخداماً في 10 دول عربية وهم الإمارات العربية المتحدة وقطر وعمان والأردن وفلسطين والعراق واليمن وليبيا ومصر والمغرب.
