شددت منظمة السياحة العالمية التي تشارك السعودية في عضويتها- ممثلة بالهيئة العامة للسياحة والآثار- على أهمية ووجوب اعتماد الدول المشاركة في عضويتها التوقيع على المدونة العالمية لآداب السياحة، التي وقع عليها أكثر من 50 دولة.

وطالب العديد من الخبراء والأكاديميين هيئة السياحة السعودية التوقيع دون تأخير على المدونة، بالتزامن مع قرب موعد إطلاق الإستراتيجية العالمية للسياحة في العقد الثالث من القرن الواحد والعشرين.

وبيّن الدكتور أحمد الحارثي أستاذ التدريب المتخصص في جامعة هارفارد أن تلك المدونة تهدف إلى تعزيز عمل القطاع السياحي بالعالم والنهوض به، وجعله قطاعاً فاعلاً وحيوياً وداعماً للاقتصاد.

وتدعو المدونة في مجملها جميع الأعضاء الدوليين الفاعلين في المنظمة للالتزام بإدارة صناعة السياحة بمسؤولية، وابتكار العمليات التشغيلية التي تعتمد على أفضل الممارسات العالمية لزيادة حرفية قطاع السياحة، والانتقال نحو قطاع سياحي مستدام.

وكانت الجمعية العمومية لمنظمة السياحة العالمية اعتمدت هذه المدونة في عام 1999، وأطلقت في سنة 2011 حملة لإبراز التزام القطاع الخاص بمبادئ المدونة العالمية لآداب السياحة. وأعلنت المنظمة أن أكثر من 187 جهة ودولة أكدت مشاركتها في المدونة حتى نوفمبر من العام الماضي.

وتعتبر الاستدامة وإثراء المجتمع والمحافظة على البيئة من أهم المبادئ التي دعت المدونة الجهات المعنية للالتزام بها.

وتتضمن المدونة العالمية لآداب السياحة أن يتم إعلام السياح بالعادات والتقاليد الاجتماعية في أي دولة، وتحفزهم على الاطلاع عليها واحترامها ومراعاتها أثناء تواجدهم فيها. كما تشمل المبادئ نبذ جميع المظاهر المرفوضة دولياً، كاستغلال السياحة لأغراض غير مشروعة.

وتركز المدونة على السياحة كأداة للارتقاء بالذات وبالجماعات، بحيث يرتبط النشاط السياحي بالراحة والاستجمام والرياضة؛ لكونه يعد مدخلاً إلى للتعرف على الثقافات الجديدة واكتشاف سحر الطبيعة والعادات والحضارات المختلفة.
