الموطن :

الانديز ، تزرع في كل اجزاء اوروبا ، وقد قيل بأنها وجدت في البيرو ، ويوجد اكثر من 500 صنف من الفاصوليا في توابيت قديمة .
و ثمة اصناف في البرازيل و اميركا الجنوبية لا نعرفها .

تاريخ النبتة :

هذه النبتة القديمة زرعت منذ وقت بعيد ، و لتشابه البذرة مع شكل خصية الذكر جعلها قدماء المصريين للعبادة والتقديس ، و منعوا استعمالها كطعام .

وفي ايطاليا في الوقت الحالي ، توزع الفاصوليا على الفقراء في مناسبات الوفاة السنوية لموتاهم .

و عند اليهود يمتنع الحاخام الاكبر في يوم الغفران من أكل الفاصوليا .

التركيبة :

تحتوي الفاصولياء : فاصكولين Phascolin ، زلال mucilage ، هلام نباتي Albumen ، اسيد الباكتيك Pectic acid .

تحتوي الفاصولياء على املاح معدنية مع فيتامينات ( أ ، ج ) و نسبة عالية من البروتين و الحديد .

فوائد طبية :

1. تعالج التهابات و امراض الصدر عن طريق غليها و هرسها مع الثوم .
2. تقطع الفاصوليا ، ثم تغلى و تعطى كمدر للبول و معالجة لأمراض الكلى .
3. تعالج امراض السكري ، وهي تخفض مستوى السكر بالدم .
4. تعالج امراض المفاصل و الروماتيزم .
5. تعالج الفاصوليا الحساسية الجلدية المستعصية عن طريق طحن الفاصوليا و جعلها لبخات دافئة على المنطقة المصابة .
6. تعالج آلام الفقرات ، و خصوصاً في المنطقة القطنية .
7. منشطة للطاقة الجنسية .
8. قد تستعمل لبدء دورة الإحاضة عند الانثى .

الإكثار والمداومة على الفاصولياء يسبب :

• النفخة و الارياح في البطن .
• تسبب كوابيس ليلية .
• تشنج القصبات الهوائية.
• الغثيان .
• جميع هذه العوارض يزيلها استعمال الخردل في الطعام مع الفاصولياء .

اما الاكثار من الفاصوليا الخضراء قد يؤدي الى :
صداع في مقدمة الرأس ، حرقان في منطقة حدقة العين ، و آلام في البطن .

تتمتع اللوبياء بنفس صفات الفاصولياء تقريباً ، و كذلك البازيلا ، و يكون الاختلاف في التركيبة .
